A Message from Our President:

Welcome to the New England Woodcarvers website.

It is our hope that when you come here, you will be able to find out any information about the club, our meetings, membership, leadership opportunities or just contact information. If for some reason you don't find what you need, please feel free to contact one of our officers for more help.

While some of the faces change over the years, and new carvers come along, our mission has not changed. The New England Woodcarvers continues to advance all types of woodcarving skills among its members. Moreover, the membership promoves woodcarving wood sculpture, wood burning and whittling as art forms in communities all across New England, the United States and the world.

Our meetings are usually heald on the first Sunday of the months of October, December, February, April and June, although it is best to check the website, as we sometimes need to move them to fit scheduling with our hosts. The meetings begin around 9 AM in the Campus Center at Middlesex Community College in Bedford, MA. All levels of carvers including newcomers regularly attend thse meetings. Several of our members will offer carving workshops on a particular project, and usually have roughouts or blanks to use (for a nominal fee to cover materials). So, bring your tools along. Or you can bring whatever you are working on. There is always plenty of space. We useually have a few local vendors as well as a raffle or auction. Around 11 AM, we have a brief business meeting. Following lunch (which we encourage you to bring with you), we have a guest speaker on some aspect of carving, woodworking or other related topic. The presenters are always willing to answer questions and stay around afterwards. By 2 PM or so, we are wrapping up and heading home. We certainly welcome you to stop in and introduce yourself. We are sure you will be inpressed and feel at home.

I personally invite you to try us out. Take a workshop. Come to our annual Spririt of Wood Show in October. We hope you will become a member and be involved as we move forward towards our 50th anniversary!

Jim Hayden
