Floating Waterfowl Competition Requirements

DECORATIVE LIFE SIZE FLOATING WATERFOWL:

  1. Entries will be judged from the waterline up and must float with a life-like attitude, but don't have to self-right.

  2. Judging will be limited to the waterfowl floating in the tank.

 

GUNNING LIFESIZE FLOATING DECOY:

  1. Decoys should be handmade from wood, cork, or stretched canvas.

  2. Birds must self-right.

  3. There should be no fine detail on the bird.

  4. Slight mandible separation will be permitted.

  5. No fragile parts allowed.

  6. No undercutting of primaries.

  7. Primaries may be raised but elevations must be a solid part of the body.

  8. Painting schemes must be simplistic.

  9. No feather definitions other than outlining.

  10. No wood burning or stoning.

  11. Texturing by means of paint or paste is allowed.

  12. Decoys will be judged for simplicity, durability, and practicality.

 

SMOOTHIE LIFESIZE FLOATING DECOY:Decoy

  1. Decoys must be made of wood or cork.

  2. Decoys will be floated and must self-right from any position.

  3. Carvings must have sturdy tails and all raised wings must be durable.

  4. No burning or fine texturing is allowed.

  5. Combing, blending, scratch painting and stippling are acceptable.

  6. No fine brush strokes accepted.

  7. To be judged on form and function.
